The Miko Plaster® - Heavy Duty Magnetic Tarpaulin. The outer layer is a polyester reinforced PVC matting with extraordinary strength characterists. (Stretch strength: 9000 N/5cm - Shear strength: 1500 N). To protect the matting further and to prevent puncture i.e during salvage operations, or when rubbing against sharp steel edges etc., the patch may be further re-inforced with Kevlar/Aramide. The patch is qualified by classification societies incl. DNV and GL and is resistant to long time exposure to sea water, oils and most chemicals. The inner layer is a nitrile rubber magnetic sheeting, where the magnetic configuration is such that it will allow the patch to have high holding forces parallel to the steel plating. The magnetic particles are positioned in such a way that the magnetic forces will apply even through thick layers of paint and marine grouting. The rubber sheeting protects the patch against sharp edges and creates an effective sealing.
